Visa & ETIAS Checker for Sardinia (Italy)

Sardinia is part of Italy, the EU and the Schengen area. Select your passport below to see whether you need a visa, an ETIAS travel authorisation, or nothing at all.

What every traveller needs to know

  • EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can enter Sardinia with just a valid national ID card and stay as long as they like — no passport stamp, no time limit.
  • Other exempt nationalities can stay in the Schengen area, which includes Sardinia, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa, but need a valid ETIAS travel authorisation before flying — apply online well in advance.
  • Nationalities not listed as exempt need to apply for a Schengen short-stay visa before travelling — start the process at the Italian embassy or consulate nearest you, well ahead of your trip.
  • Whatever your nationality, make sure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen area.

Always verify current entry requirements on the official ETIAS portal or with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before booking flights — rules can change. travel-europe.europa.eu/etias
